Dr. Ahmed was Line Director of Communicable Diseases of Bangladesh Government. epidemiological and entomological intervention ‘Malaria Hot Spot’ control approach, piloting and scaling ‘Malaria Pre-Elimination  Approach’, ‘Malaria Free Town’ strategy, introduction of ‘Malaria Protective Jacket’ for at higher risk population (Zoom Cultivator and Wood Cutters) of high endemic hilly districts, paradigm shift in strategy from malaria control to ‘Malaria Elimination’, piloting and scaling up the ‘Little Doctors’ concept for overall development of health of school children through health education, health checkup, deworming and promotion of healthy lifestyle with target of reaching 26 million children through 1.5 million Little Doctors in over 100 thousands primary level institutes, Health checkup 26 million children twice a year, piloting and scaling up of morbidity management of 3-4 hundred thousand Filariasis patients through over 3 thousands Community Clinics, piloting and scaling up of  Indoor Residual Spray (IRS) for elimination of Kala-azar in all the endemic districts and sub-districts of the country, Camp approach and house to house search for Kala-azar and PKDL cases, Combined search of PKDL and Leprosy, Piloting and scaling up of ‘Zero Kala-azar Transmission’ strategy, research and scaling up of ‘Single Dose Liposomal Amphotericin B’ for management of Kala-azar, establishment of ‘Dog Bite Management Centers’ in all the 64 districts of the country with provision of free vaccine and Piloting & scaling up of Mass Dog Vaccination (MDV) against rabies in all the 64 district municipalities of the  country were the key innovative and conventional interventions of him during the tenure of Line Director. Dr. Ahmed is specialized on Teaching, Research, Training, Development of Strategy, SOP and Guideline, Operational Plan (OP) and Annual Development Plan for Communicable Disease, SEAR strategy for control of rabies and other zoonotic disease, Clinical Service and so on. He conducted and involved in hundreds of researches and has over 100 national and international scientific and technical publications. Now, he is working as Professor and Head of Department, National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine (NIPSOM), Bangladesh.
